Not too long ago The Wellness Feed wrote about men’s shoes made from recycled materials. Before that, I wrote a guide to sustainable men’s jewelry. While I’ve loved writing about these niches within men’s fashion, I’ve realized something important. Yes, plenty of men out there want to find specific items like necklaces or dress shoes. But there are men out there who want to build up their wardrobe, regardless of the occasion. So, we decided to look for brands that offer a selection of shirts, shorts and other essentials.
If you’re looking for a great t-shirt, lounge wear or anything else you can wear for just about anything, this is the list for you. Here’s a guide to some of my favorite men’s clothing brands that cater to everyday fashion.
Outerknown

Outerknown makes comfortable, stylish clothes ranging from t-shirts and crewnecks, to their signature S.E.A Jeans, and plenty of other everyday essentials. Outerknown’s streamlined aesthetic makes it a perfect sustainable and ethical swap for popular mainstays in mainstream men’s fashion.
Environmental Impact: Outerknown is one of those men’s clothing brands that focuses on sustainable materials like ECONYL recycled nylon, organic cotton, and fabrics from recycled bottles. They’re also dedicated to ethical labor practices and work with organizations like the Fair Trade Association and the Fair Labor Association to ensure best practices throughout their supply chain.
KOTN

If you’re looking for loungewear, why not try out KOTN? They specialize in comfortable clothing for every day. This is a great way to step up your work-from-home wardrobe.
Environmental Impact: KOTN is Certified B-Corp. Plus, they work with local farmers in Egypt and Portugal to source their cotton. They work with a local NGO to provide education to the children in their farm community.
Asket

Asket specializes in timeless classics, like t-shirts, responsible denim, and other everyday menswear. Whether you’re going for a more minimalist wardrobe, or you want an everyday signature staple, Asket has great options for you.
Environmental Impact: Asket believes in transparency and responsibility in their clothes. Beyond that, they believe in creating products that will last a long time. You can read about the traceability and life cycle of each of their garments. Plus, you can send back your clothes to them when you’re done and earn a reward through their Revival Program.
Finisterre

Finisterre takes their inspiration from the ocean and fishermen. Their classic fishermen-style sweaters are a great addition to any cold-weather outfit. But they also make great, durable clothing for a variety of climates and occasions.
Environmental Impact: Finisterre is a Certified B-Corp; they use water-soluble Leave No Trace packaging; they use sustainable materials like organic cotton, linen, and hemp; they’re also working on implementing circular practices (you can read more about their sustainability and ethics here).
Octobre-Editions

Octobre-Editions makes simple and elegant classics for the modern man. Their Glenn shorts have a clear European, urban aesthetic, but they fit in anywhere. After all, classics are classics.
Environmental Impact: They produce their garments in small batches; they use sustainable materials like organic cotton and mulesing-free Merino wool; every month, they create a limited edition piece and donate 100% of their proceeds (as well as 10% of their profit from that day) to the Demain solidarity program, which encourages equitable access to education and culture for children.
Faherty

Faherty makes clothes with a laid-back, relaxed aesthetic. Whether you’re on vacation, relaxing on the beach, or hanging out in your backyard, Faherty has something for you. From t-shirts to polos, sweaters, and button-downs, there’s a wide range of styles to add to your everyday wardrobe.
Environmental Impact: Faherty is a member of 1% for the planet and works with bluesign to ensure best sustainable practices. They also partner with Native artists and a social entrepreneurship that offers employment for formerly incarcerated people in the personal training industry. They also use responsible materials, like organic cotton, recycled polyester, linen, hemp, and responsibly-sourced cashmere.
Todd Shelton

Todd Shelton specializes in solid basics for all men. If you’re looking to build up your wardrobe or even switch to a minimalist or capsule-wardrobe, I’d highly recommend checking out one of Todd Shelton’s classic t-shirts or jeans.
Environmental Impact: Todd Shelton uses sustainable fabrics, like biodegradable fibers, linen, and hemp, as well as plastic-free shipping materials. They also produce their clothing made-to-order to avoid overproduction. And on a human level, they sell half-sizes, which is unusual for men!
Tact & Stone

Tact & Stone is another great option for everyday clothing. They skew more minimalist than some of the other options on this list, which makes them great for building up your set of basics.
Environmental Impact: They use a circular model. They’re super transparent about their supply chain (you can read about every step of their process here). They also break down each of their suppliers by the certifications their products have, so you know what you’re getting when you buy a particular product. Their materials range from organic and upcycled cotton to recycled polyester, hemp, and Fair Trade alpaca wool.
Pistol Lake

Pistol Lake carries everyday clothes, as well as activewear and loungewear. They use innovative fabrics that make their clothes really versatile for a variety of uses. So a shirt like their One-Bag Tee could be your favorite work-out shirt, or it could be another tee in your everyday rotation.
Environmental Impact: Pistol Lake’s fabrics aren’t just versatile; they’re sustainable too. Their signature EUDAE is made from recycled plastic bottles, eucalyptus, and spandex. They also use hemp, organic cotton, and TENCEL blends. Pistol Lake also partners with efforts to clean up beach plastic.
