Crissanne Raymond wants you to eat more veggies. Her veggie burger company, aptly named NoBull, has been crafting its burgers from whole grains, legumes, and vegetables Mother Earth would recognize. Her recipes begin and end with clean whole food ingredients. What’s not in them are hydrolyzed proteins, modified yeast, and preservatives that popularize the ingredient lists for vegan burgers that mimic the texture and taste of meat.
As a chef and mother, taste and nutrition were the most important to Crissanne. As a mother myself who mostly adheres to a whole foods diet, I appreciated that dedication when I cooked up one of the burgers. They looked more like the versions I make at home (but without the hours spent boiling, sautéing, and mashing), so it felt good knowing that I was putting ‘real food’ and not a processed food item on the table. And they are hearty! I’ve tried some burgers before that didn’t leave me feeling satisfied. But, NoBull burgers are dense enough to be a meal on their own.
*My tip, try the Madras Curry burger in your favorite curry recipe!
Beyond embracing the simplicity of meals made from whole foods like NoBull’s offering, exploring diverse meal plans and recipes that prioritize health without sacrificing taste, such as those found in Factor 75 menus and recipes, adds variety and excitement to maintaining a balanced diet. Crissanne shared more about her decades-long experience in the vegan burger industry and her dedication to plant-based nutrition.
You have a knowledge of holistic health that spans decades! What is your top advice or eye-opening facts that you regularly share?
I always advise that if people want to be healthier they should try to ‘eat as close to the earth as possible‘! Eating a natural whole-food diet supports our health and wellness and thus we feel better!
Can you elaborate on the quote ‘food affects mood‘?
It is scientifically proven that filtering more natural & plant-based foods into our diets helps our bodies to get proper nutrition and living nutrients & enzymes for our living bodies! Even medical studies support that food is our medicine! Filtering more whole foods & healthy fermented & raw foods helps our bodies on a cellular level to ward off sickness and diseases.
Why did you choose not to use additives?
In our whole food/ real food NoBull veggieburgers, we did not need to add any additives to preserve or lengthen shelf life. Storing the veggieburgers in the freezer helps to keep the veggieburgers fresh. The veggieburgers thaw out pretty quickly ( or in the frig) for a super fast, healthy meal in under 15 min!
What challenges have you faced creating a clean whole-food veggie burger?
In the world of ‘fake meat’ or ‘meat substitutes’ many folks are unclear as to what is actually healthy to consume. Many of the meat substitutes are made from highly processed, unidentified, adulterated ingredients so far removed from an actual plant. NoBull is a ‘TRUE’ Farm to Table product! We are proud to say, completely unadulterated!

* Studies show that replacing red and processed meats with legumes can lower your risk of cancer.
*A lot of meat alternative products are made from processed plant proteins and genetically engineered yeast to create a ‘meat-like’ flavor. These processed ingredients have fewer nutrients than their whole-food counterparts and have been linked to an elevated risk of type 2 Diabetes.
What’s your favorite No Bulls Recipe?
My all-time go-to would be a pan-seared NoBull veggie burger ( Original, Mushroom, or Sundried, ( can’t make up my mind, depends on the day) with fabulous melted cheese ( sharp cheddar, gouda, or gruyere, can use plant-based alter) smothered with sautéed onions, topped with mesclun & pickles & Dijon!
Another great go-to is our NoBull Chili Recipe – we have a great recipe on our website, but you can also make your favorite chili recipe and switch out meat or protein for cubed NoBull Burgers! Top with your favorite toppings such as melted cheese and hot sauce w/ corn chips on the side!! Perfect plant-based meal!A question that we ask everyone- Eating more plant-based meals is considered sustainable by the U.N.
How are you sustainable in your everyday life?
I actively compost & recycle whatever I can, and have done so for many years. I am also mindful of water usage and try not to waste our dwindling fresh water supply. I have turned into a minimalist over the years and always attempt not to be wasteful! We have been known to seek out farmers who will take barrels of our vegetable scraps for their compost piles, here at the shop!
